By: Drew Campbell - On October 26, 2024, there was an electrifying atmosphere at the Hard Rock Stadium as the Miami Hurricanes beat their rivals Florida State Seminoles, 36-14. led by a flawless quarterback Cam Ward and a backfield with Damian Martinez and Mark Fletcher Jr., the Miami offense failed to score on only one of its drives. Martinez was particularly effective on the field, scoring two touchdowns and rushing for 219 yards. The Miami defense again performed admirably, limiting FSU’s QBs to only 115 yards and pitching a shutout for almost three quarters against the Seminoles.
The Hurricane running game began to dominate the game with Ward providing the majority of play and making sure the game always had positive yardage while Fletcher and Martinez worked their way through FSU’s defensive line. In the fourth quarter, Miami star tight end Elijah Arroyo threw a touchdown pass to Ward on a trick play, which was a nice addition to the victory. In the process, Miami ensured that their unbeaten run extended to eight wins against zero losses while FSU is plummeting with just one win.
Mario Cristobal, the head coach, also commended his team for their effort as well as giving thanks to the offensive line for withstanding the aggressive FSU defense which recorded four sacks on Ward. Nonetheless, Miami’s caliber of play across multiple offensive players and excellent defensive displays handed them a resounding success while boosting the playoff prospects of the Hurricanes.
