By Bensky Altidor - In the past few years, Coach Ian Headley has turned the Spanish River program completely around. The former college football player and native of Palm Beach County has revamped the Sharks' football program to one of the most improved in the County. Prior to Coach Ian arrival, the team did not have a winning record since 2015. We got an opportunity to sit with Coach to discuss the progress of this season.
We asked coach how is this team different than last year (7-4) team?
“They are more experienced. Last year, the team laid the foundation. These guys this year are just continuing to build on that.”
Coach Ian highlighted that some of the under rated players on the team that people should be aware of are the offensive line, the whole secondary and the linebacking core. The goals for this season is to win the district championship.
Who are the captains on the team and why were they selected?
‘We rotate those guys week to week based on performance and practice.’
How did you prepare your players during the off season?
“We had a very intentional offseason. We didn’t waste much time and we identified our weaknesses and worked to get them better. We focused on team bonding.”
What so special about Spanish River?
